Clove envied Katniss's training score (an 11 vs. her 10) and hated her for it, more so than her fellow Careers did. In fact, Clove had purposely targeted and almost killed Katniss twice, while the other tributes, including the other Careers, couldn't at all.
When bruised-neck Katniss wakes from Peeta's attempted strangling of her, she learns that Peeta's mind has been “hijacked” using a technique that involves injecting small doses of tracker jacker venom into the victim.
Clove tackles Katniss and begins to taunt her about Peeta and then Rue. Clove intends to torture Katniss before killing her, but is suddenly taken off of Katniss by Thresh.
At that point, Clove could have easily killed Katniss, but she didn't. Instead, she taunted and instead of killing Katniss quickly, she wanted to savor the moment, saying that she would give Katniss a slow, painful death - "I promised Cato if he let me have you, I'd give the audience a good show."
Who is the first person Katniss intentionally kills?
Katniss kills Glimmer, Marvel, and Cato in The Hunger Games. Glimmer's death occurs by chance. Katniss drops a tracker jacker nest on the Career Tributes' camp while they are sleeping, and Glimmer is stung to death before she can get away. Marvel is the first person that Katniss intentionally kills.

Why does snow laugh when Katniss kills Coin?
Snow laughs after Katniss killed Coin because he enjoys the irony of the situation. He avoided the official execution ceremony, even though Panem's citizens still take their revenge on him, while Katniss ends up snatching away the victory and power that Coin thinks she has successfully secured.
Katniss feels betrayed, most of all by Haymitch, who used her and Peeta. Eventually she wakes to find Gale there. He's badly injured and tells her the Capitol bombed District 12 after the Games. He got Prim and Katniss's mother out in time, but the District 12 is gone.
He has betrayed her and is betraying all of District 12 by buddying up with the Careers, whom she calls the "Capitol's lapdogs." She decides that if the Careers don't kill him, she'd be more than happy to. Then, she wonders why Peeta hasn't told them about her bow and arrow skills yet.
Though both were cruel toward the other tributes, they had formed an emotional connection with each other. However, in the film, Cato and Clove seemed to have no relationship with each other beyond that of allies. Cato did not come to Clove's aid during the feast, although she screamed his name twice.
Furious, Thresh attacks Clove, killing her by slamming her in the cornucopia until she died. As Thresh leaves, he takes not only his own backpack, but Cato's as well, forcing Cato to chase him instead of Katniss. When they fight, Cato manages to kill Thresh. However, in the film, he was eaten by mutts.
It is unknown why only Clove went in for the backpack, but by the time she is fatally wounded by Thresh, Cato is too far away to save her. As Katniss flees the feast, she sees Cato kneel beside Clove and beg her to stay with him.
Rue formed an alliance with Katniss Everdeen after warning her about a nest of tracker jackers. Rue decided to trust Katniss partly because of the pin she wore over her heart: the famous mockingjay pin. Katniss avenged Rue when Marvel killed her.
Coin killed Prim to destroy Katniss because, as Boggs (Mahershala Ali) explains before his death, Katniss is her biggest threat to maintaining her power over Panem because of the influence Katniss has over the people. Katniss only ever tolerated Coin, making her dangerous.
The Capitol captures and tortures Peeta after Katniss escapes The Quarter Quell, and though he's rescued at the conclusion of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1, he's been brainwashed to treat Katniss as an existential threat.
Later, the two learn President Snow considered their actions to be an act of rebellion against the Capitol. After their last interview, in which the two continue to affect their romantic feelings for one another, Peeta comes to the realization Katniss has staged her love for him all along.
It took time for Peeta to break out of that conditioning, and even when the possibility existed that Peeta could be a danger to Katniss, the two of them still elected to be together and build a future in a post-Hunger-Games world. Their love for one another is evident.
SPOILERS!!!!! In the end of the first book peeta had his leg cut by cato but then when he hid he covered himself with mud and stuff to camouflage and it got hella infected but Katniss found him and took care of him but then his leg got torn up by mutts yada yada yada blah blah blah we already knew this.
Throughout both installments of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, it was revealed that Peeta was physically and mentally tortured by the Capitol. They used tracker jacker venom to distort his memories to turn him against Katniss.
Both Morphlings die during the Hunger Games in Catching Fire, after the female tribute from District 6 protects Peeta from the monkey mutations that attack the tribute. She dies in Peeta's arms while looking at the sunset.
By killing Coin, Katniss ensured a chance for a peaceful and fair country, avenged her sister's death, and liberated Panem from the fascist government. The Hunger Games franchise is still an iconic series of books and movies, with the latter truly cementing the property as an international phenomenon.
Katniss here's this and understands that even though she may not love Peeta (then) that it's one less person who has to die. (At least that's what I have always thought.) Katniss realizes that if she pretends to be in love with Peeta people will want the capitol to let them survive.
Although she will never know for sure, Katniss does recognize that she cannot be with Gale. She will never be able to forgive him for his idea — the parachute bombs — that killed Prim.
Gale was responsible for creating weapons that would trigger a second wave of bombs to target first responders and combat healers. This invention potentially ended up killing Prim, but even if he wasn't directly responsible, Katniss found this tactic so abhorrent that she lost her affection for him.
