Seven of Nine (born Annika Hansen) is a fictional character introduced in the American science fiction television series Star Trek: Voyager. Portrayed by Jeri Ryan, she is a former Borg drone who joins the crew of the Federation starship Voyager.
For the good of the entire universe, Airiam chooses to sacrifice herself to keep Control away from Discovery, dying when she is blown out of an airlock into space.
We learn in this episode that Airiam was a human who at some point in the past was gravely injured in a shuttle crash and kept alive through cybernetic augmentation. She's basically half robot (or as Tilly would say, “robit”), and this knowledge led Cheesman to an interesting line of thought for her character.

The artificial intelligence is from the future; it infected Airiam and forced her to copy some of the data transferred over from the dying Sphere so Control could evolve. However, this was prevented and Discovery destroyed the former prison and HQ of Section 31 following the events of last week's episode.
Mitich portrayed Airiam in season one of the show, before that role was taken over by Hannah Cheesman for season two, while Mitich began recurring as Nilsson in season two – who eventually takes the bridge position of the deceased ("Project Daedalus") Airiam.
