Dr.Facilier, also known as “The Shadow Man,” first materialized in “Princess and the Frog” in 2009. Tricky and manipulative, he strikes up a deal with Prince Naveen to make his dreams come true – for a price.
Facilier would not just be a dark wizard who wants to conquer New Orleans with the help of his friends, he would have been Mama Odie's son, who followed the path of the dark arts, unlike his mother.
Facilier is Tiana's father James, the one who supposedly died at the war. After all, in those times, who could tell whether numerous soldiers were really dead ? More often than not, no bodies were found whatsoever.
Facilier is the first black Disney Villain and the fourth to be French or have French origins. Facilier appears to resemble Baron Samedi, the Haitian voodoo Loa of the dead. He wore a top hat, a tuxedo, and other accessories. He too has associations with voodoo spirits.
Facilier is the first Disney villain to not have a particular entrance of his own, instead appearing in the opening song in a casual way. Facilier and Tiana never meet until the film's climax, though she knows of his reputation and he knows of her father (most likely through the cards). Dr.

Is Tiana black or mixed?
Tiana is recognized for being Disney's first African American princess. As the film's writers and directors, Clements and Musker claim that their decision to depict Tiana as an African American young woman came naturally simply as a result of the location in which the story takes place.
Tiana and Naveen are married by Mama Odie, and since doing so makes Tiana a princess, both are restored to human form after their kiss. They later return to New Orleans to legally marry and open their restaurant together, with Louis playing in the band.
Facilier is an evil witch doctor who practices a dark form of voodoo magic. The other characters in the movie all refer to him as The Shadow Man. Only Dr. Facilier refers to himself as Dr.
Even he is afraid of his so-called friends; though he gets his power from them, he owes them a lot in return. His terror is especially evident after Tiana breaks the talisman, and he and his shadow are dragged away by his so-called "friends", even leaving behind Facilier's terrified expression on a tombstone.
Mama Odie is a supporting character in Disney's 2009 animated feature film, The Princess and the Frog. She's a blind, 197-year-old voodoo priestess who resides deep in the swamps of Louisiana.
His skin is brown, but he isn't African-American. "A lot of moms had issues with that," Coleman said. "It felt like it was a slap in the face to black men." Coleman asked a Disney executive if Prince Naveen was Creole and was told that his background was made up; he's whatever ethnicity they have in fictional Maldonia.
At some point, James was possibly killed in action (K.I.A.) during the war, so he probably never got to see Tiana get her restaurant. As shown briefly in the film, he was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross (given for extreme gallantry and risk of life in actual combat with an armed enemy force).
Very loyal and highly affectionate, Juju is Mama Odie's closest companion, acting as her eyes throughout their hidden home. And although Juju acts as Mama Odie's personal little assistant, he is also treated as her very own child, much like the stereotype that the elderly treat their pets as their own children.
She asks if they want candy. when they decline, she tells them that the candy would turn them into human. She apparently already knows Tiana and Naveen's desire to become human again but knows that they need something much more. She tries to tell them that during her gospel number, “Dig a Little Deeper”.
Dr. Facilier has been known to show up with some recurring frequency in New Orleans Sq at Disneyland. He can also usually be met during Halloween season at Disneyland Paris.
Dr. Facilier : Don't you disrespect me, little man! Don't you derogate, or deride! / You're in my world now, not your world, and I've got friends on the other side... [ushers Naveen and Lawrence into his shop, from which murmurs are heard...]
Tiana is another one of the oldest Disney princesses, though that's the case at only 19. Although her story ended in romance like most other Disney princesses, her main prize throughout the movie was furthering her career by opening a restaurant.
Celia Facilier is the daughter of Dr. Facilier and the younger sister of Freddie Facilier. On the Isle of the Lost, Her father was sucked into a voodoo hell for eternity, Celia worked as a fortune teller and errand-runner for Hades.
The Shadow could be interpreted as Dr. Facilier's soul personified. The “friends” on the other side are actually the voodoo spirits or ancestral souls. When he made his pact with the voodoo spirits, he threw his own soul into the mix, thus separating it slightly from his physical body.
Anika Noni Rose will once again provide the voice of Tiana. The series was originally expected to debut in 2023 but is now said to be launching in 2024.
Princess Tiana is largely inspired by New Orleans chef Leah Chase, and her family has been actively involved in the creative process with Disney as the company expands Tiana's presence in the parks.
says Tiana looks like: "Tiana is a beautiful young woman of African-American heritage. She is tall and slender with a sculpted figure, has dark skin, medium-length black hair usually tied in a low ponytail, light-brown eyes, a bright smile and dimples." This issue has still not been resolved with Feld Entertainment.
