Often seen as just "Harry Potter's stupid friend", Ron feels betrayed when Harry is chosen to represent Hogwarts in the Triwizard Tournament. While Harry swears he never entered his name, Ron can't help but think that Harry wants to achieve another moment in the spotlight.
Among the worst fears that plagued Ron in Harry Potter was to be seen as his best friend's sidekick rather than as an equal. This took the best of him when Harry's name came out of the Goblet of Fire, which made Ron angry because he thought Harry had deliberately added himself into the mix.
He's not the most perceptive person, so he looked at Harry and Hermione's relationship and saw possible romance instead of the clear brother/sister relationship they had. That jealousy overrode any of the obvious signs that Harry loved Ginny and Hermione loved...well, Ron!
It's a betrayal of trust, with Harry never having considered that Ron would ever throw his words back at him and accuse Harry of leading them astray. Ron claimed Harry was the one putting his family at risk and that it was due to him that he and Hermione were stranded in the forest with no leads.

Why was Hermione not a Ravenclaw?
It was confirmed on Pottermore that Hermione was also a bit of a Hatstall, as the Sorting Hat saw the potential for her to be both Ravenclaw and Gryffindor. In the end, Gryffindor won out, and it's possible that Hermione wanted to be seen for being brave more than for her intelligence.
But she's not very fondly remembered by fans of the bestselling novels. While she's not necessarily a malevolent spirit, a lot of her actions are a bit suspect. One detail that especially irks fans is Myrtle's crush on Harry. Some don't like the idea of a ghost and a human having such an unrequited romance.
Hermione is tough and independent and Ron is sweet and caring, and they have personality traits and unique qualities that make their relationship work.
If you have only seen the films, you might be surprised to hear that it wasn't Cho Chang who betrayed Dumbledore's Army to Professor Umbridge – it was Marietta Edgecombe. A friend of Cho's and a fellow Ravenclaw, Marietta (reluctantly) joined the DA.
Ron's hatred and jealousy of the Krum-Hermione partnership came to a head at the Yule Ball. Hermione had clearly put a lot of effort in and had a genuinely good time with Krum, before Ron decided to ruin everything at the end, leaving her running off to bed crying.
Main reasons that Ron is not good enough for Hermione are because he is not smart, he does not value Hermione like Harry does, he is not good looking, he is not brave and he is not loyal.
He may have, in his mind, directed that anger at Harry and Hermione, but only because the evil in the horcrux had exaggerated his fear for his family. Hermione forgave him because he wasn't in his right mind.
In fact, Ron is consistently weaker than Harry in the books and movies. While Ron is powerful enough to fight by Harry's side, it's pretty clear that Ron's spellcasting falls short of Harry's, and he would lose if they fought for real. Especially if he's using that broken wand of his, held together with Spellotape.
As Harry left to go sacrifice himself, Hermione pleaded with him, even offering to go with him. That she would offer to go before the Dark Lord for Harry was a testament to the true love she felt for Harry. This scene of selflessness on both of their parts proved the genuine love shared between Harry and Hermione.
Ron often called Hermione a know-it-all, while Hermione, for her part, often got annoyed at Ron for being irresponsible and a little reckless. In some ways, this is one of the main things about Ron and Hermione's friendship that doesn't make any sense.
So why did Harry choose Ginny over Hermione? Because Harry and Hermione were never a thing. And because Harry developed feelings for Ginny. He didn't “choose Ginny over Hermione,” because he was never interested in Hermione.
