Devastated to see Uncas' demise, Alice refuses to remain with Magua and commits suicide by jumping off the same cliff. Enraged, Hawkeye and Chingachgook catch up to the Hurons and kill many of them.
The traitorous Indian explains that he was once a chief, but his tribe drove him out when he learned to drink firewater. He alleges that Colonel Munro once had him whipped for coming into camp drunk and now wishes to marry Cora in order to revenge himself on Munro.
He then picks her up in his arms and they continue kissing (the sex is merely implied). Cora's face says it all: She loves this man, she wants this man, she will have this man.
The Hurons reach a precipice, and Cora refuses to continue. Magua threatens to kill her with his knife, but he does not know whether he wants to kill her or marry her. Just as Uncas succeeds in leaping from a ledge and landing at Cora's side, one of the Hurons loses his patience and stabs Cora in the heart.
Why did the girl jump off the cliff in the last of the Mohicans?
Chingachgook, Uncas and Hawkeye then pursue Magua's party to rescue Alice. Uncas races ahead and kills several of the Hurons in combat, but is killed by Magua and thrown off the cliff's edge. She's guilt-ridden over misdeeds that she cannot fully remember. At the beach, before the murder, Cora swims out past the safe zone in an attempt to drown herself - but changes her mind at the last moment. This action is the first indication that something is very wrong.
So the only reason Uncas had was the that he loved her and was willing to die for her. It was his final and most pronounced act of affection for the young Munro girl.
Uncas changes more than any other character over the course of the novel. He pushes the limits of interracial relationships, moving beyond Hawkeye's same-sex interracial friendships and falling in love with Cora, a white woman.
The Last of the Mohicans is reasonably accurate to that truth, though only in the broadest terms. The closest it comes to an actual historical event is the siege of Fort William Henry, which did take place between two commanders named Munro and Montcalm.

Uncas does die in The Last of the Mohicans. He is killed in the final battle of the book, which occurs in Chapter 32. Uncas is killed by Magua (Le Renard Subtil), who stabs him several times. In Chapter 33, the dead, including Uncas, are buried: '...the body was enveloped, never to be unclosed again.
It was near the end of the movie. Young Alice Munro stands at the edge of a rocky precipice, neck deep in Huron territory, ready to jump to her earnest and dear-heartbroken death. She's fallen in love with Uncas, the second-to-the-last of the Mohicans.
As Detective Ambrose begins to search for a motive, often extending beyond the scope of his job with actions that border on unethical, the audience learns about Cora's childhood traumas. In the book (but not in the USA series), this includes a father who was a former Nazi and who molested her.
Gold leads Mary Margaret to find that he has the magical candle that Cora had given her years earlier, which can save a life by causing another person's death. He asks her to use it to save him, and she agrees once she realizes she can use the candle to kill Cora.
Once Mabel ran, Cora thought of her as little as possible. After landing in South Carolina, she realized that she had banished her mother not from sadness but from rage. She hated her. Having tasted freedom's bounty, it was incomprehensible to Cora that Mabel had abandoned her to that hell.
Magua dies at the hands of Hawkeye in The Last of the Mohicans. After stabbing Uncas to death, Magua leaps over the cliff to get away. He struggles a bit, but gets his knees situated on the rocks. Hawkeye, watching Magua's actions, waits until Uncas is still and then fires his rifle.
Magua is so upset with the English, particularly Grey Hair and his family because Colonel Munro because he killed his children and caused his wife to marry another man. He intended to wipe Munro's line out forever by killing him and his two daughters.
Cora finally announces to the rest of the band that Magua would let them all go, if Cora would agree to marry him. She asks Alice and Heyward whether she ought to accede to his request or instead choose death for them all.
