Author Suzanne Collins asked to have it changed to the orange variety she had described in the books. And director Francis Lawrence has followed through with the orange cat in the following two installments. Two cats were used in filming, one "mellow" actor cat for most scenes.
Trivia. In The Hunger Games film, Buttercup was a black and white cat. However, in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Buttercup was recast as a large, fluffy ginger tabby, portrayed by a seven-year-old Maine Coon named Orion. Buttercup was afraid of thunder, and liked to be hidden underneath a blanket during storms.
What happened to the black-and-white cat in Hunger Games?
Buttercup. The original black-and-white cat used in the first movie was recast as an orange tabby in the final film at the request of author Suzanne Collins, who wanted to stay more loyal to the cat's description in the book.
Being a tribute in the 74th annual Hunger Games and motivated by her promise to Prim, Katniss grows from an introverted person to someone who tolerates other people's presence. At the same time, her awareness of the Capitol and its cruelty slowly increases.
Buttercup. Prim's cat, Buttercup, is a symbol of survival and a parallel to Katniss herself. Buttercup, though unfriendly, survives again and again, much like Katniss. He is not a particularly affectionate or attractive cat, but Prim loves and protects him, and that is enough to make Buttercup loyal and loving to Prim.
Katniss purchased that goat after Rooba came by and said that she, in fact, didn't want the goat; then she winked at Katniss. Together, Katniss and Gale deliver the goat to Prim who was all too excited to care for it.
Due to her surgical alterations that made her look like a feline, it was insinuated that she was shunned by fellow Capitol members. Tigris, however, was an ally of Cressida, which was why Katniss and her team were brought to the shop to hide in the secret cellar located under the building during Mockingjay.
In the end, Katniss and Gale grew apart, as many childhood friends and young loves do. She needed something different in her life, and with Gale's link to Primrose's death, Katniss found a reason to cut ties. If Katniss ever wanted to find comfort again, she knew she had to return to Peeta for the long term.
Peeta had experienced the same trauma, which meant that Katniss could trust him with her feelings, and confide in him in a way she couldn't with those who merely saw her as the Mockingjay, a symbol of rebellion. Their connection deepened as a result.
Origin:Greek. Meaning:Aquatic plant. Katniss is a girl's name of Greek origin. It means "aquatic plant," which is fitting for your little water baby, who's bound to bloom and blossom like a beautiful plant.
At the very end of the book, we have Katniss and Peeta huddled together waiting out Cato's death as he's being mauled by mutts inside the Cornucopia. Katniss shoots him in the face, effectively ending his life.
Her death was presumably excruciatingly painful, as per Snow's other executions. It is possible that Snow had her killed to intimidate Peeta, who was in Capitol custody. By scaring Peeta and showing him visibly shaken on national television, it would scare Katniss and the rebels.
It is also cumulative, so Katniss Everdeen, when she was sixteen, had her name put in the glass ball twenty times. Gale Hawthorne, who has five family members including himself, had his name put in the glass ball forty-two times. The amount of tesserae taken is larger in Panem's poorer districts, such as District 12.
Gale, Katniss' 18-year-old hunting partner, is well-liked by many girls in the District 12. When he first meets Katniss in the woods, he believes that her name is Catnip, and so this becomes his permanent nickname for her.
That said, it was stated that an emergency election took place after Katniss assassinated Coin. Commander Paylor, a vital leader in the Second Rebellion from District 8 was elected as Panem's new president.
So Buttercup is this cat that Prim owns and that she won't allow Katniss to get rid of. The first movie chose a black-and-white furred cat that came nowhere near the description of Buttercup in the book to play the part of Prim's cat.
This suggests that Katniss loves Peeta, and not just because she feels that she owes him her life. Instead, Katniss wants to protect him and bring him home because she has strong feelings for him, even though she isn't sure what those feelings mean.
Did Peeta actually have a crush on Katniss before?
Often, he would stare at her in school. Sometimes Katniss would make eye contact with him, only for his eyes to quickly flit away. During an interview with Caesar Flickerman preceding the Games, Peeta admits on national television to having a long-standing crush on Katniss.
SPOILERS!!!!! In the end of the first book peeta had his leg cut by cato but then when he hid he covered himself with mud and stuff to camouflage and it got hella infected but Katniss found him and took care of him but then his leg got torn up by mutts yada yada yada blah blah blah we already knew this.
Katniss's focus on survival and her family's safety prevented her from fully considering romance, but her feelings for Peeta and Gale diverged in the end. Katniss ultimately chose Peeta because he understood her trauma and she didn't want to lose him, proving her love for him.
Gale was responsible for creating weapons that would trigger a second wave of bombs to target first responders and combat healers. This invention potentially ended up killing Prim, but even if he wasn't directly responsible, Katniss found this tactic so abhorrent that she lost her affection for him.
Peeta, Annie, and Beetee vote no, while Johanna and Enobaria vote yes. After some thought, Katniss demands to kill Snow. Once she receives an agreement, she votes yes, for Prim. Realizing something is up (as Katniss would never do that), Haymitch votes yes, too.
Described as sweet and vulnerable, in the book, it's suggested she sells her body to ensure the family keeps up appearances and stays fed. Tigris is seen again in "The Hunger Games" franchise as an ally to Katniss Everdeen, but much differently. After heavy modifications to her body over time, she resembles a tiger.
This leads to an encounter in the forest where Coriolanus Snow shoots at Lucy Gray after he is bitten by a snake. The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes is specific about showing Lucy falling down and yelling after Snow shoots in her direction, but her body is not found when Snow gets to her presumed location.
Throughout the years, Tigris started to get surgical enhancements, specifically to alter her looks to look somewhat like a tiger getting face and arm tattoos, flattening her nose and getting some of the largest whiskers Katniss had ever seen from a Capitol citizen.
