Disgraced and suicidal with a growing irrational hatred for Spider-Man, Brock comes into contact with an alien symbiote, rejected by Peter Parker. The symbiote bonds with him and they become Venom, together seeking out revenge against their mutual enemy.
While held captive, Eddie was saved by the symbiote and planned to stop Drake, who became bonded with another symbiote, Riot. Once they defeated Riot and expose the Life Foundation for their crimes, Eddie decided to bond with the symbiote, together becoming known as Venom.
More recently there was the canonical statement of Venom's that they love Eddie. Once the film was released fans were quick to create jokes about their relationship. Many comparing them to the demon possession vine, or how Venom became emotionally attached to Eddie. He got physically attached pretty quickly as well.
This Venom called himself a loser who finally found a chance to be more when he bonded with Eddie. On his part, Eddie was a jobless man with a broken heart when he met Venom. The two have agreed that they are both losers who are stuck with each other but this is what ultimately makes them complete.
Anne commented on it was nice, only misinterpreted by Eddie about their kiss, but she clarified that it was about the power as Eddie suggested. Anne would also promise Eddie to not tell Dan about their mutual kiss.
