Don't expect less from World War Z. Filled with the requisite depictions of gruesome and disturbing scenes, this movie zeroes in on the almost instantaneous transition from human to zombie. After being bitten, a character has only seconds before he or she begins convulsing wildly.
The film presents a thinly fictionalized account of the events surrounding the assassination of the democratic Greek politician Grigoris Lambrakis in 1963. With its dark view of Greek politics and its downbeat ending, the film captures the director's outrage about the junta that then ruled Greece.
He's first introduced by drawings as a humanoid monster who is impossibly large, with long grotesque limbs. As Beth gets closer to discovering him, the monster's mouth is quite large and he's hulking and terrifying... but with surprisingly human eyes.
Although the film has less blood and gore than usual zombie movies, there is plenty to scare children under 13, for whom it is definitely not suitable. Most teens can handle it. I would recommend the Multiplayer mode for age 13, Campaign for age 15, and zombies for age 16. Parents should also know that content such as the blood and cursing can be turned off in the settings. However there will still be lots of shooting and explosions.
