Anakin had prophetic nightmares of Padmé dying in childbirth, and pledged himself to the Sith Order, feeling desperate to save his wife and that the Jedi Order was holding him back from his true potential and the power to keep her alive.
Because of Anakin's attachment to his wife, her potential death was the perfect excuse to step in and make false promises about the Sith. Palpatine even offered a way to save Padmé, and that the Sith could help preserve life.

Sadly the Clone Wars would have still happened, but Padmé would have also survived, giving birth to Luke and Leia who would have probably been inducted into the Jedi Order. As for what would have happened between the two, with their marriage and all, that's a bit tricky.

Qui-Gon Jinn believed that the Force itself created Anakin in Shmi's womb, making him the Chosen One who would bring balance to the Force. The revelation confirms that Emperor Palpatine personally manipulated the Dark Side of the Force to create Anakin, making him Anakin's true 'father'.
Why did Anakin turn to the Dark Side after Padme died?
The only reason Anakin turned to the dark side was to save Padme from dying during her pregnancy. For those who believe that the reason was power, they just don't get it! The first and only time he mentioned power was after his mother's death. He told that if he was stronger he could save her.
Palpatine really does possess the secret that would allow him to keep Padmé alive in Star Wars: Episode III, but of course it's not in the would-be emperor's best interest to reveal that information. He ultimately uses Padmé as a necessary sacrifice in order to transform Anakin into Darth Vader.
While Force healing could have saved Padmé, material from both continuities explains why Anakin couldn't use it. The Force is a fundamental omnipresent energy that can be used as “powers” by those who are trained to tap into it. One such power is healing oneself or another at an enhanced speed.

But it's fascinating to speculate what would have happened had he been successful. In that scenario, Padmé Amidala's return from the dead would not have provided the solace Darth Vader sought.
Although the droid specifically referenced Padmé losing the will to live as the source, over time, the narrative within the franchise and Star Wars audiences has become that Padmé died of a broken heart.
She threw herself from a balcony, claiming that she no longer recognized her love. Thus, Vader's quest to save Padmé ended with her choosing to commit spiritual suicide so that she wouldn't have to go back with him.
