Loki is unarguably one of the biggest fan favorites in the MCU. This, combined with the fact that he had shared the screen with Thor in all the previous God of Thunder solo films, explains why fans were so disappointed when he didn't appear in Thor: Love and Thunder.
Meanwhile, the events of Endgame and Loki gave fans hope that Thor would get a chance to see the person Loki became, easing the grief from seeing his brother's death. Unfortunately, the Loki finale all but ensures that won't happen. There is one small glimmer of hope, though.
Although he's alive, there's no confirmation of a Loki season 3 or his return in future Avengers movies. Marvel has not confirmed when or if Loki will return. While there might be potential for a variant of Loki in a future project, it remains unclear. Loki's ending makes sense as a final one.
In the main timeline of Earth-616, it appears that Loki is presumed dead and gone for good. In Thor: Love and Thunder, Thor has several tattoos memorializing his brother, which seems to suggest the God of Thunder has made peace with his death.
Loki has the most knowledge of Kang out of any other MCU hero, perhaps with the exception of Janet Van Dyne, and will therefore be an essential factor in the Avengers' next big battle. While viewers may hope for Loki's return prior to 2026's Avengers movie, his appearance in The Kang Dynasty is inevitable.

Despite recently telling “The Tonight Show” host Jimmy Fallon that the “Loki” Season 2 finale marks the end of his 14-year journey as the God of Mischief, actor Tom Hiddleston told TheWrap that a potential return down the road is always a possibility.
After dying in Avengers: Infinity War's opening sequence, Loki was brought back to the MCU thanks to Avengers: Endgame's time-heist. Now technically a variant of the Loki seen from The Avengers to Infinity War, he is once again on a path of redemption.
Loki, as it turns out, was the only one who could save the TVA—and so from the moment Sylvie killed He Who Remains, he was destined to need to hold the timelines in place. He's now Loki Who Remains, possibly for the rest of time.
By saving and organizing every existing timeline, Loki has become the God of Time — a higher being who keeps the past, present, and future of every universe from being erased by outside forces. Tom Hiddleston, who has played Loki since 2011's Thor, explained his character's final moments in an interview with Jimmy Fallon. “It all comes full circle,” he said. “It's the conclusion to Seasons One and Two, and it's also the conclusion to six films and 12 episodes and 14 years of my life.
Loki will most likely return to the main Marvel series for two reasons. Firstly, it is technically possible for him to have survived an asphyxiation like that, via CPR or just the fact that he's, you know, a GOD. But the second and more likely answer is becuase money.
While Loki and Thor did, by heart, truly love each other as brothers, their intention to rule Asgard made them fierce rivals. However, Thor evolved himself by learning that a true leader doesn't start wars or seek to conquer other territories, while Loki sought to control the world and gain more power over others.

The events of Loki led audiences to believe that, should Loki abandon his post, the multiverse would collapse and the branches would begin to die. As such, Loki is unlikely to take an active role in the fight against Kang for Avengers 5.
While Tom Hiddleston's future in the MCU is uncertain after Loki season 2, there has been speculation that Loki will be returning in Avengers: Secret Wars.
Here, holding on to all of the timelines, he became a kind of tree god, physically representing the Norse tree of life, Yggdrasil. It was a poignant and painful ending for Loki, who now seems to be sentenced to being alone for eternity as he watches over the timelines.
It was a brilliant ending in which killing Kang is not the answer, in fact not killing him is one of the only paths forward, but Loki forges a new solution, holding the entire multiverse together as the new God of Stories nestled in a cosmic Yggdrasil world tree.
However, because the film is touted as an Avengers team-up, there will likely be appearances from Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange), Anthony Mackie (Captain America), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye) and Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), among others.
Kevin Feige has said in no uncertain terms that Marvel will not be reversing Iron Man's death from Avengers: Endgame. Feige made it clear that Iron Man's death was a moment that represented years of hard work behind the scenes, and that he would not want to change anything about it.
