Venom threatened to eat his arms, legs, and face if he ever robbed Mrs. Chen or anyone else again. Visibly terrified and confused, he asked what Venom was, to which both he and Eddie answered simultaneously. In great dislike of the man and in hunger, Venom decided to eat him whole despite his pleas.
Symbiotes also tend to make their hosts more reckless, and there's evidence that over enough time, they'll totally consume their hosts, absorbing their personalities (Marvel has suggested this was Venom's original plan for Spider-Man.)

In a flashback, it is revealed that she got pregnant with Eddie's child after bonding to Venom. After giving birth to their son Dylan, she left him in the care of Carl Brock, with the promise that she would return eventually. She instead committed suicide, after which Carl raised Dylan.
In addition to his corrupting Darkforce powers, Li has Lightforce-based abilities that grant him considerable healing powers. Li used these healing powers to cure Eddie's cancer, fusing Brock's white blood cells with the trace amounts of Venom still in his body in the process.
Most folks are familiar with the fact that the symbiote who would come to be known as Venom first bonded with Peter Parker. It got a taste of the power of Spider-Man and grew to love that power. It grew to love the feeling of the wind on its face swinging through the city. It loved the force behind every punch.
In the present, he attempts to use Eddie Brock to investigate Cletus Kasady, but is seemingly killed during a battle between the Venom and Carnage symbiotes and Barrison. However, he absorbs a piece of one of the symbiotes, which later revives him and causes his eyes to glow blue.
It could be that in the universe of the Venom movies, this type of strong bond is already known among the symbiotes to result in stronger specimens. This could explain why Venom is so fearful of facing an enemy with a ruddy hue.
Since his debut however, Venom has evolved into an antiheroic figure, slowly distancing himself from his initial goal to ruin Spider-Man's life to try and do good instead, even putting aside his differences with and helping Spider-Man at times.
Since some symbiotes hold more dominant personalities, absorbing such a symbiote could affect the original personality of the absorbing symbiote. Whatever the case may be, Venom's act of eating his own spawn, Carnage, stands as one of the Lethal Protector's most vile moments.
Venom's symbiote has explained on many occasions that the Klyntar planet is practically devoid of emotions, yet over time he knows that he forms genuine love for Eddie. Venom bonds more with Eddie and experiences guilt, jealousy, and sadness over his other half.
Todd MacFarlane wanted Venom to be massive, or at least much larger than Spider-Man. This was achieved with Eddie Brock Jr. also possessing a hulking physique, and thus the correlation was made that the symbiote also became a brute with Eddie as its host.
But why does Venom lick the TV with Peter's face on it? Besides communicating the apparent fact that Venom wants to eat brains — and Peter's looks tasty to Venom — Venom's hunger appears to be proof of an intrinsic attraction to Peter Parker.
