Is Cinna a mentor to Katniss?
Haymitch is one of Katniss' main mentors throughout the series as he provides her with guidance as a tribute in the games, but Cinna is also an extremely influential mentor figure for her.
Cinna was Katniss Everdeen's stylist during her campaigns through the 74th and 75th Hunger Games. He came from the Capitol and he was not like the Prep team who, to Katniss, were like "a trio of oddly colored birds pecking around her feet." Cinna, as it seemed to Katniss, was more normal than she had expected.
Katniss worries that they will either wear miners' jumpsuits or, worse, appear completely naked and covered in black dust. Instead of emphasizing coal, though, Cinna and Portia (Peeta's stylist) focus on fire, dressing them in black unitards and capes of red, orange, and yellow.
Before the interview, after Katniss is dressed in a beautiful gown and is again "the girl on fire," Cinna tells her that she should try to be herself and pretend that she's answering questions asked directly by him, a friend.
