In the aftermath of the horrific kills, Chucky explains his history with Sarah, Nica's mother. As Charles Lee Ray, he was infatuated with Sarah, but her oblivious dismissal of his advances led to him killing her husband in a jealous rage and holding her hostage while pregnant with Nica.

How did Chucky know Nica's mom?
When Nica asks Chucky what his motive is, he reveals that he was a family friend that was secretly in love with Nica's mother Sarah. He killed her father and kidnapped Sarah.
The Child's Play franchise is known for its brutal, high kill counts. Racking up the kills together from all seven movies, Chucky has killed a total of 67 people.
Through flashbacks, Chucky explains that he was a friend of the family. He was in love with Sarah, but she was married and pregnant with Nica. Chucky insists the child is a boy and should be called Glen, while Tiffany argues that they're a girl and should be named Glenda. When asked, the doll replies they don't know what they are. He only became evil due to his sadistic desire to hurt and kill others, shown when his father was killed by the Hackensack killer, and decided to become just like him because he was inspired by the killers actions.
Kyle follows Chucky and Andy to the factory, where Chucky knocks Andy unconscious and attempts the ritual to transfer his soul into Andy. However, Chucky is able to finish the chant until suddenly, his nose starts to bleed.
Curse of Chucky doesn't actually show how Chucky was revived, the film simply has a Good Guy doll sent to the home of Nica Pierce (Fiona Dourif). Though the film does have a different vibe than the previous two films, so perhaps the ambiguity was intended.
In order to get Glen's soul into a human body, Chucky's semen is inserted by Tiffany into Jennifer so she can bear a child for Glen to use. As the two awake the next morning, unaware of the events of the night before, Jennifer suddenly experiences morning sickness and realizes that she is pregnant.
Chucky and Tiffany make plans to transfer their souls into Redman and Jennifer. Tiffany knocks them out and uses a turkey baster to inseminate Jennifer with Chucky's semen, intending to use her baby as a host for Glen's soul.
However, after they managed to seemingly hypnotise a Chucky doll into being good, nicknamed "Good Chucky", Nadine stuck by his side as a guardian before she was ultimately murdered by him, devastating Jake, Devon, and Lexy.
During that time, Chucky picked up an interest in Voodoo and met a practitioner named John Bishop who taught him more about it. However, Chucky perverted everything he was taught and his bloodlust couldn't be contained.
Chucky has been in seven movies and two seasons and counting of his own series simply called Chucky. Between all of his endeavors, Chucky tops Freddy with 67 kills.
As a result, his persona changed from one of murder and toxicity to one of almost childlike innocence. However, the dam seemingly began to break as the “real” Chucky poked through, resulting in the defenestration of Nadine as well as a full-on return to evil once Andy Barclay and the gang came to give him an exorcism.
