However, despite some major similarities the two might have, Carnage indisputably proved himself to be worse in one major area. While the Joker has certainly tortured and twisted multiple therapists in his time, Carnage is the only one who drove a therapist completely and utterly, violently insane.

Venom has always held the distinction of being Marvel's scariest symbiote, but Carnage was never far behind him, and it seems Carnage might have finally passed Eddie Brock.
The human component of Carnage's first host, Cletus Kasady, was designed by artist Erik Larsen, who modeled the character after the DC Comics supervillain the Joker. Kasady was introduced in The Amazing Spider-Man #344 and first appears as Carnage in issue #361.
With every symbiote, the ability to spawn a new puts the former in danger, as there is a possibility of the spawn is normally more powerful than the former. Knowing this, if venom were to spawn again, carnage would be rendered useless against the newer spawn, whether it be his or venom's.

As a super-villain, Carnage is a study in comparisons. If Venom and Eddie Brock are motivated by jealousy of Spider-Man and thus permitted to be complex characters who edge closer to anti-hero status, Carnage is pure villain.
In spite of Carnage's brutal methods and relentless nature, the symbiote itself was still held back by the same weaknesses to extreme heat, electricity, and sonic weapons that all others of its kind suffered from. More importantly, Carnage was held back for the vast majority of its life by its need for a host.
This inversion of a typical superhero scenario emphasized that Carnage is one of Marvel's most remorseless, irredeemable characters. One significant aspect of Carnage's character is that he seems to have a thing for worshipers.

The main reason was because the Carnage symbiote was not a perfect match with Cletus like Venom was with Eddie. In the middle of the climactic battle, we see Carnage and Cletus arguing with each other over Cletus' one true love Shriek, who Carnage hates because of her symbiote-killing sonic scream.
In fact, right after its birth, the symbiote proved to be more adaptive than its father Venom, merging with Kasady's blood to forge a more visceral bond with its host. This also gave its “skin” that distinctive red hue. But it didn't stop there—Carnage continued mutating throughout the character's horrible history.
Why Yes in fact Carnage has done some good things. During the axis storyline Carnage's moral compass is shifted so he now wants to become a hero instead of a villain.
Disgraced and suicidal with a growing irrational hatred for Spider-Man, Brock comes into contact with an alien symbiote, rejected by Peter Parker. The symbiote bonds with him and they become Venom, together seeking out revenge against their mutual enemy.
Carnage does have more abilities, but was like a rampaging kid and Venom ate it to kill it. Riot was cunning, and was even able to rip Venom from Brock and would have eaten him if Brock didn't rebond with it.
