What age is G vs PG?
G: Appropriate for people of all ages. PG 12: Parental guidance is required for children under the age of 12. R 15+: People aged 15 and above will be admitted. ID is required to confirm your age.
General viewing, but some scenes may be unsuitable for young children. A PG film should not unsettle a child aged around eight or older. Unaccompanied children of any age may watch, but parents are advised to consider whether the content may upset younger, or more sensitive, children.
What does U mean? The U symbol stands for Universal. A U film should be suitable for audiences aged four years and over. However, it is impossible to predict what might upset a particular child, especially at this lower end of the category range.

Conclusions Our content analysis suggests that a significant amount of violence exists in animated G-rated feature films. Physicians and parents should not overlook videocassettes as a source of exposure to violence for children.

A TV-Y rating means that programming is appropriate for children of all ages. TV-Y7 indicates that programming is designed for chil- dren ages 7 and older.
