The Ghost Rider is Zarathos, the spirit of vengeance who goes into host and battles against his archenemy Mephisto and punishes evil when around it. There are multiple incarnations of the character, the first being Johnny Blaze, a stunt motorcyclist who made a deal with the devil to save his adoptive father.
The character first appeared in Marvel Spotlight no. 5 (August 1972). The original Ghost Rider was a western antihero created by writer Ray Krank and artist Dick Ayers for the publisher Magazine Enterprises in 1949.
Zarathos is the demon inside Johnny Blaze that causes him to turn into Ghost Rider. The curse of this vengeance demon prevents Johnny from living a normal life and compels him to always seek out villains to punish. While he manages to hold back Zarathos' worst instincts, Johnny still wishes he was free of the demon.
He's gone by many names - the Spirit of Vengeance, the Devil's Bounty Hunter - and acquired dozens of human hosts over the years. And one look at his blazing skull and demonic ride seems to confirm that Marvel's Ghost Rider is indeed an agent of the devil.
Suffice to say, it's hard to permanently put the Ghost Rider down. And even if you manage to, he'll look as young as the day he was possessed when you do it. As we just mentioned, the Ghost Rider is incredibly hard to exterminate, and the Spirit of Vengeance can never truly be killed.
Cosmic Ghost Rider Is powerful, but he doesn't stand a chance against Galactus. Not only could Galactus strip Castle of the Power Cosmic, but he possesses its full fury, something he doesn't share with his Heralds.

It has been stated that Johnny Blaze as Ghost Rider can bench press around 25 tons (50,000 lbs) (or more as seen in World War Hulk). Each Ghost Rider entity also had abilities specific to him or her. Originally when Blaze transformed into Ghost Rider, his body changed but not the clothes he was wearing.
Ghost Rider's main weakness is that he can be defeated by any weapon forged in Heaven or Hell, and DC has quite a few religious artifacts that could do the trick. On the other hand, when it comes to some popular heroes, many of whom make the most powerful list, Ghost Rider is stronger.
History. Alejandra Jones is the daughter of an American human trafficker and an unknown Mexican woman. Like her brothers and sisters, Alejandra was sold by her father and ended up with Adam in Nicaragua, where she and other orphans were trained within the confines of a temple to become the next Ghost Rider.
Eventually, Zarathos would gain control of Johnny Blaze and the Ghost Rider would become the spirit of Zarathos unleashed. Johnny himself was becoming stronger as well, and the conflicting personalities led to a battle over Blaze's physical body.
It is true Ghost Rider is very powerful. But he is not nearly as powerful as Ghost Rider Fans want you to believe. For the Ghost Rider to take on the Avengers, Johnny Blaze can't be in control. The Spirit of Zarathos takes over.
Technically another Ghost Rider should be able to beat him if they absorb him similarly to how Ketch was doing to other riders during the Zadkiel storyline or how Blaze did to him recently.

Has any Ghost Rider definitely defeated The God of Thunder Thor? Not at all. On their first encounter, Thor wasn't even fazed by Ghost Rider's hellfire.
