Though never mentioned in the first Bladerunner, Rachael is designated as a Nexus 7 in Bladerunner 2049 via her serial number. The replicants Deckard hunts in the first film are Nexus 6s.
For Blade Runner 2049, Nelson and company sought to recreate actress Sean Young as faithfully as possible to her 1982 appearance as the replicant Rachel. The team went to great lengths to achieve this near-perfect double.
How did they bring back Rachel in Blade Runner 2049?
Actress Loren Peta was brought on as the Rachael body double. With Nelson and Young also on hand, the scene was done with dots all over Peta's face, which would be needed when the footage went through the motion-capture phase. Peta's face would be erased, and CGI Sean Young would be inserted.
Rachael died in childbirth in 2021, and the child was hidden by the replicant underground. Tyrell was killed during the events of the first movie in November 2019, and the secret of producing replicants capable of procreation died with him.

A key relationship in Blade Runner 2049 is between K and holographic girlfriend Joi (Ana de Armas, Knives Out). Blade Runner 2049's Joi is an A.I. designed by the Wallace Corporation to cater to the desires of customers, telling them what to want to hear.
In Blade Runner 2049, Ana de Armas plays Joi, an artificial intelligence sold by the Wallace Corporation. She's a customizable hologram that the people of Blade Runner's futuristic America can purchase as a live-in romantic partner.
Scott considers the glow to be a stylistic device (non-diegetic); only visible to the viewers to help them understand that they are viewing a replicant, almost always occurring after the characters have assumed as much. The relationship between sight and memories is referenced several times in Blade Runner.
During the final fight with K, after subduing him, she smugly kissed him and retorted "I am the best one!", as if trying to prove her superiority over not just K, but all other replicants, further hinting at her deep-seated insecurities that she kept well-hidden.
However, he later learns that, even if the memory is real, it was not his own but Dr Ana Stelline's. Through her work, Dr Stelline shared her memory with K, and this allowed him to understand what it was like to walk in her shoes, but most importantly, to believe himself a free, loved replicant.

Ana Stelline (Carla Juri), who is Deckard and Rachael's daughter but has no idea of this and now works as the world's best memory fabricator. We don't know if she planted that memory in only K's brain or in the brains of hundreds of replicants, hoping one of them would follow this message in a bottle. Maybe others did.
One of the most significant – and moving – sequences in Blade Runner 2049 arrives in its third act, when K learns that he is not, in fact, Deckard and Rachael's missing child. K is what he was told he was all along: a replicant, nothing more, nothing less.
Rachael wanted to further explain, but Deckard cut her off to recall to her the memories of her childhood; informing her that he was only aware of her memories because they were imprinted. Deckard explained to her that her memories were false due to their connections with Tyrell's niece.
What happens to Rachel at the end of Blade Runner?
The theatrical version ended up giving audiences a rather typical Hollywood-style ending. Deckard runs away with Rachael after Roy's death. There's even some off-camera narration in which the blade runner explains that Rachael outlives her predetermined lifespan.
Luv was a secondary antagonist in Blade Runner 2049. She is portrayed by actress Sylvia Hoeks. Luv is a Replicant, a highly advanced android created by the Wallace Corporation.
Later at K's apartment, he informed Joi of his conclusion that his memory was indeed real. This overjoyed her, as she always believed him to be special, insisting that he now be called "Joe." When K was meeting with Ana and she confirms for him that the memory was real and that it happened, K shows his first bout of strong emotion in the movie by yelling god damn it and storming out.
His perfect match would disobey her programming to help him. Regardless of your opinions on the above, I do think that the movie clearly says that Joi's love for K was programmed/created by a corporation. But he loves her back.
This is when she slices his eyes with her katana, permanently blinding him. While Elle manages to escape with her life and leave Los Angeles for parts unknown, her actions may have actually motivated Wallace Jr. to become the ruthless CEO he is in Blade Runner 2049.
She weeps when they suffer and is heartbroken when they die, but is incapable of acting to stop either. Like so many people who feel helpless in today's society, Luv is a prisoner to her programming. Luv's first very-human tears come as she witnesses a murder.
Body double Loren Peta played the young Rachael (in costume, makeup, and with dotted face) and performed on set with Ford and Jared Leto (as replicant manufacturer Wallace). She was directed by Denis Villeneuve, with Young on set as well for reference. The goal was to merge the two into a perfect replica.
The big twist in the final act of the movie is that K isn't the son of Deckard and Rachael at all, but just another cog in the machine that might lead to the child's discovery.
