Snow White can be classified as having Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. The Princess meets all eight of the criteria listed in the DSM-V to diagnose PTSD (See Appendix A). First, she directly experiences a traumatic event relating to a near death experience (Criterion A1).
Another example of psychological disorders in Disney movies is from the beloved tales of Winnie the Pooh (Milne, 1954). In fact, here we see two examples: Eeyore displays signs of depression while Tigger's behaviors seem consistent with a diagnosis of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
Renee is a thirteen-year-old girl who is nonverbally autistic. She appears in the Pixar SparkShorts film, Loop. Renee enjoys playing ringtones on her phone and touching interesting textures (like reeds). She communicates by vocalizing, gesturing, and showing people things on her phone.
Cinderella demonstrates dysphoria that is precipitated by the untimely death of her father [00:02:25] and perpetuated by the abject emotional abuse of her step-family.
Tiana. Tiana from The Princess and the Frog turns into a frig after she kisses a frog prince. She suffered from Zoophilia which is a sexual disorder involving attraction to animals or desires to have sexual contact with animals.
Rapunzel syndrome is an extremely rare condition associated with trichophagia (hair eating disorder) secondary to a psychiatric illness called trichotillomania (hair-pulling behaviour). It is most commonly seen in children and adolescents. Untreated cases can lead to a number of complications.
We also see hints of Elsa's anxiety, so common in autism: her fears about her magical powers, her reluctance to be in the limelight as queen and her desire to “let it go.” Toward the end, we also see her anxiety as Anna falls into a deep coma.
If one looks closely enough, it can be seen that Lilo is neurodivergent, specifically autistic. Because of that, she possesses several unique traits which make her stand out from others. Some traits include her different behavior and a level of maturity she possesses that many other folks her age do not.
Ariel from “The Little Mermaid” has been headcanoned as autistic, because no one who sings a song about wanting to not just learn about an interest, but literally be in that world, is neurotypical.
After a close call where Tinker Bell deflects an attack with the hook, the crocodile clock tower seemingly comes to "life" and eats Hook when it falls on top of him. Hook's missing hand is his left and his stump takes other attachments, including a baseball mitt and a pointer.
The new Peter Pan & Wendy confirms the connection between Captain Hook and Peter goes further back than Peter, causing the pirate to lose his hand. Captain Hook was the first lost boy in Neverland, and he and Peter were best friends.
Eeyore: Depressive Disorder. He always has a bleak outlook on life, and never feels any positive emotions like happiness and excitement. Christopher Robin: Schizophrenia. It is believed that all the characters from above are manifested depending on Christopher's mood.
Bell's psychotherapist developed diagnostic impressions, describing her presenting concerns as Schizoaffective Disorder, along with traits of Borderline Personality Disorder. A case conceptualization next was developed. and the factors maintaining her presenting concerns.
Speaking of major depressive disorder, Elsa from Frozen displays many symptoms of this disorder, including locking herself away from her sister and refusing to face the world.
Trivia. It's hinted at that Moana's mother is Lilo from the Disney movie Lilo and Stitch, seeing as her mothers name is Lilo Pelekai, the same as the movie's main character.
Lilo Pelekai. Lilo Pelekai (/ˈliːloʊ/ LEE-loh) (literally, "lost" in Hawaiian) is one of the two title characters of the franchise. She is a young Native Hawaiian girl who lives on the island of Kauaʻi with her older sister Nani and her extended family of alien visitors marooned on Earth.
Canonically, she is not romantically interested in anybody. And lest you wonder if that description means Elsa is asexual or aromantic, neither of those qualities is canon either. Canonically, she's nothing when it comes to her sexuality. Which also means she isn't (yet) canonically straight.
It's widely accepted by Disney fans, the LGBTQ community, and specifically the aro/ace communities that she's asexual and aromantic, so it should be made canon in Frozen 3.
Anna's parents rush her to the sacred realm, where discussions with the trolls reveal that Elsa was born with her powers/ depigmentation and deafness, rather than them being due to illness or accident. Grand Pabbie troll heals Anna but removes her memories of Elsa's magic.
As such, Maleficent later develops long-term symptoms of a traumatic disorder: With her purpose dishonored and her body disfigured, she is withdrawn, numb, angry and irritable. But it is more than an emotional shift. Her worldview has changed significantly, as is often the case following interpersonal trauma.
Her obsessive personality and violent mood swings are indicative of a borderline personality disorder. Like most Disney villains, she also has hypnotic powers as shown when she torments Prince Phillip with visions of a bleak future.
Other characters that show mental illnesses in other movies include Dory from Finding Nemo who seems to depict ADHD, Alice from Alice in Wonderland who is probably suffering from schizophrenia, Merida from the show Brave who shows signs of someone who may have an Avoidant Personality Disorder and Rapunzel from Tangled ...
