Luke betrays Percy and the gods because he himself feels betrayed. Luke's anger is prompted by how he feels abandoned by the gods, and this prompts him to use the same manipulation tactics that the gods use.
During their conversation, Percy realizes that Luke is the missing piece from his prophesy: the betrayal of a friend. Luke felt deceived by the gods for sending him on a pity quest—one that had already been previously fulfilled by Hercules.
Before Percy goes on his quest, Luke gives him his pair of Winged Shoes as a gift. These shoes were actually cursed to drag him, along with the Master Bolt, down into Tartarus when he neared it during his journey into the Underworld.

Shortly after Thalia came across another demigod, Luke Castellan, a son of Hermes. They became friends and joined forces to fight the monsters that attacked them. They have romantic feelings for each other.
Enraged that he was given a quest with no glory (because Hercules did it once) and then failing, and his belief that the gods let Thalia die, Luke began to plot against the gods. Luke dreamed of Kronos, who convinced him to serve him and help him start a war with the gods.
Upon returning to Camp Half Blood, Percy is betrayed by his friend Luke, son of Hermes, who turns out to be the human hero whom Kronos used for the theft. Luke poisons Percy, and tells him before leaving that Kronos will rise and destroy the age of the gods. Western Civilization is unraveling.
While this may seem like a betrayal at first, it was actually Grover playing the part of protector to a tee. Knowing that monsters will find Percy at Yancy, Grover realizes he has to get him away from the school as quickly as possible.
However, it's Medusa's resentment speaking during this scene. Annabeth doesn't betray Percy in Riordan's books, and she's even more hurt by Luke's betrayal than Percy. Percy and Annabeth eventually end up together, and they spend much of the series endlessly loyal to one another.
Annabeth also outwardly admits she had a crush on Luke in The Mark of Athena, the third book in Riordan's Heroes of Olympus series. Disney's Percy Jackson & the Olympians show hasn't suggested that Annabeth has feelings for Luke, painting a more platonic picture of their relationship.
In fact, book Percy doesn't select both Luke and Annabeth for his quest because of their existing friendship; he fears they'll betray him, as the Oracle's prophecy teases.
Luke dies in The Last Olympian when he is given Annabeth's knife by Percy. He sacrifices himself to defeat Kronos by stabbing himself under his left arm where his mortality was still kept intact after his bath in the River Styx (known as his Achilles heel).

An altercation with Clarisse allows Percy to discover his father is Poseidon, one of the “Big Three” gods. This revelation is cut short when a hellhound attacks Percy from the Fields of Punishment.
After Percy's return and her rescue, Sally finally has enough of Gabe's abuse, kills him with Medusa's Head, and sells his petrified corpse as a sculpture of her design, earning her enough money for her and her son to start a new life. Percy Jackson, his former stepson.
This action saved the entire world. After doing so, he asks Annabeth to forgive him, which she does. His father Hermes blesses him, and his soul is taken to Elysium having died a hero's death. Percy himself admits that Luke was a hero in the end and that's what mattered.
The villain twist at the end of Percy Jackson season 1 reveals that Luke is the friend who betrays Percy — and the person who stole Zeus' Master Bolt and Hades' Helm of Darkness.
Kronos: The Lord of the Titans and the main antagonist of the series. He tries to get Percy to join him and fight against the Olympians. His weapon is a sword named Backbiter remade into the scythe.
A true fan would know that Annabeth Chase would NEVER cheat on her own boyfriend. Being the daughter of Athena, the goddess of wisdom, that would go against EVERYTHING her mother stands for. But to answer your question, no this never happened in the book. It's not canon, and never will happen.
In the beginning of The Lightning Thief, Annabeth is shown to dislike Percy when she finds out that Percy is the hero of the prophecy. She thinks he is weak, and is influenced by the rivalry between her mother, Athena, and Percy's father, Poseidon.
But, as it turns out, the traitor is really Luke (Bushnell). He gave Percy the winged shoes hoping that they'd drag him down to Tartarus and straight to Kronos. Luke didn't anticipate Percy giving the shoes to Grover (Aryan Simhadri).
