Given when the movie takes place, Elise can only appear at the end of Insidious: The Red Door as a ghost. She's already been dead over a decade after Josh strangled her when he was possessed by the Black Bride at the end of Insidious.
Those who have seen Insidious: Chapter 2 know that it wasn't really Josh who terrorized Dalton all those years earlier. Josh's body had been co-opted by the tormented soul of Parker Crane, a serial killer known as “The Bride in Black,” who killed young women while dressed as a woman himself.
Also at the funeral, an encounter with Carl (played by Steve Coulter in previous films), the man responsible for erasing Josh's memories, highlights the depths of Josh's amnesia.

Is there Insidious 6?
The latest Insidious 6 news is that Insidious: The Red Door is hitting theaters on Friday, July 7th, 2023, and it will reportedly be the final in the franchise when it comes to the main chronological story. What this means is that there won't be an Insidious 6 in the classical sense.
All of a sudden I was over 2/3s of the way through and the story was just not delivering. It rounded out being a bit of a bore as far as action/plot went. The production was also greatly hindered in my opinion by other variables such as script, acting and characters. The script was... poor.
It's revealed early on in Insidious: The Red Door why Lorraine is nowhere to be seen — she passed away. Part of the opening scenes of the final Insidious movie sees the Lambert family all grown up attending a funeral together, which happens to be Lorraine's.
"You better see this Insidious, it's the last one!" He told Discussing Film. "To give a more serious answer, [The Red Door] is going to be the last we're going to see of Insidious for a while. It may not be a forever rest, but it's certainly going to be a very long rest.
While the black bride hasn't been confirmed to return for Insidious 5, given that Josh and his family are coming back, Parker Crane may return to haunt them once again.
Elise is killed at the end of the first movie by the Bride in Black, who has successfully possessed Josh. She reappears in the second movie as a spirit in the Further, where she helps Josh get back to his physical body and stop Parker from killing his family.
In the end, Elise meets a girl named Allison who is in a "coma" and realizes something rising behind her. Elise is shocked and says "Oh my god!" gasping, hinting a sequel. The thing that was behind Allison is believed to be the red face demon as it made the same crackling sound as it did in Insidious 1.
The demon chases them to the red door and Josh stays behind to keep it shut so Dalton will be safe. Dalton returns to his body and paints over his red door painting with black paint, which in turns seals the real door and The Further. Josh meets his father's spirit, who guides him back to the living world.
But all is not well--Josh dies in the Further while holding the door, his physical body in the real world apparently following suit. Yes, that makes him the Hodor of Insidious. Of course, dying while you're in a spirit world isn't as straightforward as dying the normal way.
However, it shouldn't be surprising that Insidious is doing well as the franchise is known for being a huge box office draw. When the original Insidious scared its way onto the scene in 2011 it made $100.1 million worldwide which opened The Further to more frighteningly good sequels.
The Big Picture. Insidious is not based on a true story, so you don't have to worry about real-life hauntings like in The Conjuring series. The inspiration for Insidious came from Wan and Whannell's desire to make a horror film about astral projection.
It's a common question, but the answer is no, The Conjuring and Insidious franchises are not linked to each other. The only 'link' is James Wan, who directed both the first two Conjuring movies and the Insidious movies. Fun fact: Patrick Wilson starred in both the first two Insidious movies and The Conjuring movies.
Insidious: The Red Door is a hot mess attempting to shoehorn in a plot between Father and Son. We get to waste time watching scenes while the Son is screwing around in college and going to frat parties. It completely misses what made the first three films great and feels like a flat and boring film.
Like most franchises, the first film is usually the best. The same goes for 2011's Insidious. The film that kicked off the franchise is an interesting twist on a haunted family in critical ways. For one, it flips the very concept around by revolving the haunting around a person rather than a house.
Next would be “Chapter 2,” thanks to the flashback of Elise helping a young Josh in 1986. Then you'd do “Chapter 3,” which is set mostly in 2007, then “Insidious” in 2010, and finally “The Red Door,” which is set in 2021 despite its 2023 release date.
You can watch every Insidious movie in chronological order. Although we don't recommend it. While the first two films follow a connected story, the third and fourth Insidious films serve as prequels to the Lamberts' story.
Insidious The Last Key is scary enough, it's entertaining enough for the fans, it's a popcorn horror thriller you'd want to take your girlfriend to see just so that she can curl up next to you when she feels squeamish, this really is a movie just for the fans of the franchise, and despite some of its few ridiculous ...
